Abstract: Learning should be personalized.  And all students should understand and participate in the goal making process in school so they are equipped to do so throughout life.  This workshop offered ideas about how to implement and generate excitement for goal planning and personalized learning at school. 

Utilizing Formatting to Aid Student Learning

Abstract: This workshop helped Purnell faculty understand how to create well-formatted assignments, worksheets, tests, guided lecture notes, and online learning materials to help students more efficiently and effortlessly understand information, therefore increasing student understanding and performance.

Grade-Level Seminars: Making Time to Teach Important Life Skills

Abstract: This workshop introduced participants to Purnell's grade-level seminar program, which integrates into the regular school day lessons in diversity, health and wellness, team building, coping and resiliency, the college process, and transitions in and out of high school. Participants received the scope and sequence of each grade level's curriculum, learned how to navigate scheduling challenges inherent in building a seminar program, and discussed implementation possibilities at their schools.

Creating a Strengths-Based School Environment

Abstract: This workshop introduced participants to Purnell's Affinities Program, which includes a four-year seminar curriculum, a pragmatic approach to communicating student strengths throughout the community, tools to aid teachers in content-area curriculum planning, and a plethora of activities that provide an arena for exploring strengths outside of the school day.  Participants left with inspiration and tools to help them in their quest to maximize success and satisfaction in all students.​​
